"During the last two decades business in the international marketplace has become increasingly competitive, requiring that managers find new ways of providing optimal customer service and remaining profitable within their industries. Organizations attempting to gain competitive advantages are adopting new programs including Total Quality Management programs to help improve the quality of goods and services they are offering customers, and to help promote their influence within the global marketplace. Increasingly countries including Hong Kong and China are taking an active interest in TQM programs as a means of promoting change and improvements within the organization."
