The article stresses that in many cases behavior problems have become a prerequisite to academic problems. In addition, many studies contend that academic success is dependent upon the ability to read and comprehend. They explain that special education students with emotional behavioral disorders are often inadequate readers. The article indicates that behavioral problems can often occur as a result of biological factors, the home, the environment and socioeconomic status. All of these factors can contribute to behavioral disorders that can impede a student's ability to learn."
