"This paper has explored issues of social anxiety and social phobias within children. While not all forms of anxiety emerge from a negative or undesirable home environment, there are many correlates between the home environment and the child's behavior. Theorists working in family attachment theory witness different outcomes based on the needs of the child; a supportive environment in which normal standards of interaction are maintained is desirable for helping a child cultivate a positive outlook and avoid cultivating anxiety disorders. Attachment based family therapy and cognitive behavior therapy can help the family reconcile inappropriate or misplaced roles and facilitate a normal environment for the developing child."
