The main objective of this report is to consider nursing and the future impact that it will have on the health care spectrum in the future. "Labor and Delivery registered nurses provide care for women and their newborns during the period of antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and neonatal stages. These are obviously critical life events. I assess every mother and baby with the intention of creating individually specific plan of care. "Labor and Delivery registered nurses collaborate with physicians and other health care providers to provide the best plan of care for each patient." (Davis, 2004)
I implement the plan of care which entails monitoring the mother and baby as well as teaching each patient about the intricacies of health and newborn care. I am expected to evaluate how effective the care plan is and modify it as appropriate. But, one of the more pleasurable aspects of my job is the psychosocial and emotional support I am able to provide for families."
