From the Paper:
"The Asian Buddhist teachers in the United States did not treat women differently from men. Inspired by these teachers, the American women began concentrating on developing themselves into leaders and teachers of Buddhism. No more did they have to give in to the teaching they would have to be reborn into male forms in order to find ultimate salvation (Boucher 241). The American Buddhist woman became a teacher herself, and like Kuan Yin, She Who Hearkened To The Cries Of The World, especially when it came to inequality and discrimination."
