Paper Summary:

This is a research paper that describes the beginnings of the zeppelin up through the existence of the Hindenburg and the consequences of the major zeppelin disasters, including the Hindenburg disaster. The author explores the reasons behind the fatal evening of May 6, 1937 and the ethical dilemmas involved in the Hindenburg disaster.

From the Paper:

'As the 20th century approached, people wanted more advanced and luxurious options for transportation across continents. Traveling via ocean liner was outdated, and it required immense amounts of time. The world yearned for something new. From this desire came the innovation of the zeppelin, or massive airship, the first of which was launched by Alberto Santos-Demont of Paris, France in 1898 ("Society-Background" 4). These crafts were designed as the world's premier means of air transportation (Althoff 141)."
