This is not cruel; cows do just fine under these natural conditions. The cow-calf operator will also want to ensure that his or her cows and calves are protected from disease. Therefore, vaccinations are extremely important in this type of operation. Cows and calves must be vaccinated against a host of common organisms and diseases that can cause them harm and affect the quality of the beef."
