This is a research paper about Robert Frost and two selected pieces of his poetry. There is an analysis and comparison of his poems "Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening" and "Desert Places". This paper seeks to understand the process in which Frost is thought to have undertaken while writing these poems. It also discusses some of the various meanings within his poetry.
From the Paper:
"From early on in his literary career, Robert Frost had trouble getting the attention of publishers. Namely, there seemed to be a constant lack of interest towards his works. After having little success in selling his poems to the public, Frost moved to a farm in England. For Frost, moving across the vast sea was a career saving decision that seemingly perfected his writing. He was able to meet other writers and influential people and a year after moving to England, had published his first major collection of poems. A couple of years later Robert Frost was finally published in America to rave reviews of critics and had finally gained the respect of others. (Poets.org) With the publishing of his fourth collection of poems titled New Hampshire, Frost received his first of four Pulitzer Prizes. New Hampshire includes his famous poem "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening." Later in his life his collections were criticized more than the previous those that he wrote earlier on.
