# 45459

Examines the systemic inequality of racism inherent in American institutions.
3,300 words (approx. 13.2 pages) | 13 sources | MLA | 2003 United States

Paper Summary:

This paper examines the problem of racism in America today. It discusses how, despite the way Americans claim to be the leading democracy, there are still many obstacles in the way of minority groups achieving full equality. The paper focuses on these types of obstacles in public institutions.

From the Paper:

"America was created and founded with the principle that it is "the land of the free and the home of the brave". It is taught to children from a young age, reported through the media, and written in history textbooks that America is "the land of opportunity". However these mottos of America are based on simple lies and injustices and always have been. It is what the rulers of this country, or the establishment wants us to believe. The truth is that our society does not treat all its people fairly and equally. Nor does it provide for some members of society in the ways that it does for others."
