In addition, economic and social development can be stifled because the necessary infrastructure such s hospitals, schools and industry are not available. Without the needed infrastructure a nation or a region does not have the capacity to sustain itself socially or economically and is often dependent upon nations that have the type of infrastructure that allows them to proper socially and economically development. Now that we have provided a definition of physical planning, the next section of the discussion will focus on conceptual differences associated with physical, urban, regional and rural development planning."
