From the Paper:

"On August 2, 1990, armed Iraqi troops invaded the neighboring country of Kuwait. This started the Gulf Crisis, in which the United States eventually sent its own troops in order to liberate Kuwait. Israel also became involved in the confrontation when Iraq's Saddam Hussein ordered the bombing of Israeli cities with Scud missiles. The United States deployed its own missiles in order to defend Israel, as well as Saudi Arabia. In the course of the Gulf Crisis, the United States was aided by Great Britain and its other European allies. It is interesting to note that the events leading up to the Gulf Crisis involved interactions between these various countries as they occurred in the course of the twentieth century. "
