Peacekeeping in Yugoslavia

# 42783
Peacekeeping in Yugoslavia
A look at international attempts at peacekeeping in Yugoslavia with a focus on Canadian efforts.
3,400 words (approx. 13.6 pages) | 8 sources | 2002 United States

Paper Summary:

This paper will look at the imbroglio in the former Yugoslavia through the eyes of the UN and its peacekeepers. Special emphasis will be placed on the role Canada has played in the conflict. (However, as it is impossible to extract the efforts given by Canadians themselves, the role of the UN at large will be given, with specific examples provided where possible.) Using this perspective, it is clear that the international response to former Yugoslavia has probably been misguided. However, as it is a very complicated and unprecedented conflict, this is not necessarily surprising. But if anything positive can come from the situation, it is that the UN and its varied forces will realize their limitations.
