"The purpose of this research is to examine issues of pollution in the oil industry. The plan of the research will be to set forth the background and context in which pollution-related concerns have arisen in the modern period and then to discuss key factors of analysis that must be included in any comprehensive understanding of the connection between oil-industry activity and environmental pollution.Understanding how and why pollution is at issue in the modern period requires first understanding the structure of the oil industry.
