Paper Summary:

The paper closely examines seven articles that analyze the correlation between mental illness and criminal violence and evaluates each study's methodology. The writer explains why he views the article "Mental Disorder and Violence: Personality Dimensions and Clinical Features" by Paul Nestor as the most sound analysis. The writer concludes the paper by asserting that only through compassionate research, and responsible policy governance, can we ultimately agree to procedures and treatment that help to control violent tendencies.

From the Paper:

"Throughout time, society has categorized certain groups of people. Specifically, those who suffer from a mental illness have often been alienated through this process. This is manifested not only in the daily interactions with afflicted persons, but also though the legal directives set forth by policymakers and enforced by not only those paid to perform these services, but citizens as well. Stereotypes regarding these people have been created and perpetuated over generations, and often have led to cultural beliefs that reinforce these belief sets. While a vast amount and wide variety has been conducted to address this discussion, it appears as if in order to reach any conclusive and substantiated claims, more research needs to be undertaken especially involving a series of controlled experiments to yield more definitive results."
