5,374 words (approx. 21.5 pages) | 16 sources | APA | 2008 United States

Paper Summary:

This paper discusses menopause among females. It specifically focuses on the systems that women present with, giving menopause the alternative name of "midlife change." The paper then discusses why some women are affected worse than others by their symptoms and whether these specific changes and the overall changes are treatable by the medical profession.

From the Paper:

"Furthermore, a most valuable tool, if used wisely, is the information to be found on the Internet. Not only is there a plethora of easily available advice from legitimate resources, but the World Wide Web can also connect you to many online groups where you can "chat" about your experience. One such web site is called Power Surge and is an online support group for midlife and menopausal women, "An informative and supportive menopause community for women going through the transition of perimenopause to postmenopause. Not only the physical symptoms, but the psychological and spiritual changes as well" (Power, 2007). For many women this is an excellent alternative to finding a physical person or a group to talk to and may eventually lead to better coping skills and additional social interaction at a more comfortable level of familiarity."
