From the Paper:

"While the famous Las Vegas Strip may be the most well know venue to tourists for casino gaming, there are several other geographical areas within the City that are popular areas for gambling, particularly to locals. These include Downtown Las Vegas, which is populated by older, more modest hotel/casinos, and a long stretch of Boulder Highway, also known as the Boulder Strip, which is inhabited by several so-called locals' casinos. (Shinnar, et al., 2004). The outlying cities of North Las Vegas and Henderson are also popular locations for casinos that cater to local residents. This aversion to The Strip can probably be attributed to the fact that locals are not as impressed by the casinos that are located there and do not wish to fight the constant congestion."
