"The issue of teaching learners in P/J who are afraid of math problems is admittedly a challenging one. It must be acknowledged that it is unlikely that we will ever be able to reach the point where learners will "welcome problems with open arms and minds". Given an educational context in which even many candidates at our Teachers' Colleges admit to having a high degree of anxiety when facing math problems in their youth, it may be realistically concluded that nothing less than a profound overhaul of our education system's approach to the math curriculum will address this fear and anxiety."
