From the Paper:

"While the controversy continues over what their respective roles may be in the 21st century, researchers have confirmed that human beings have certain physiological differences that have created historic patterns of behavior and thought which continue to impact their lives today. The social divisions that have been created by the differences in the sexes, though, have largely related to the need for females to care for children while men hunted and waged war; as the 21st century unfolds, these social divisions are no longer as relevant or even appropriate, and yet the duality of standards continues to pervade society today. In fact, many observers suggest that gender roles and stereotypes remain some of the most important determinants of how people are treated today."
