Paper Summary:
This paper examines past and present legal cases in an attempt to address the legal issues that are bound to arise as a result of technological advances. The paper considers different possible future scenarios where technology would be especially vulnerable to abuse and what we could do legally to prevent such abuse. The paper argues that advances in technology are outpacing our ability to regulate the advances and then suggests measures that governments from all over the world could take jointly to prevent the abuse of technology.
From the Paper:
" As a result, scientists need to keep the public informed by providing the motivations and reasons behind the research usually funded by large corporations. The research should stop when dollar gains supersede the proposed medical gains or ethical concerns, such as wrongfully applying research findings to things other than the intended purpose."
