"Feminism and PornographyThis paper will discuss the opposing feminist views concerning pornography. One view argues that pornography in and of itself not only degrades women sexually, but also is an integral part of the ongoing subordination of women by men. Consequently, pornography is deserving of no speech protection under the law and the First Amendment should not even apply in cases involving pornography. The second view argues that while some pornography depicts the degradation and brutalization of women, pornography as a whole is not harmful to women. In fact, pornography serves a useful function in the liberation of women, helping them to become sexually self-autonomous. The censorship of pornography, on the other hand, can only serve to hurt women, because it has been, and will continue to be, used to silence feminist ideas of .."
