Literature is reviewed in relation to the federal use of the line-item veto. This review of the literature is in support of the investigation of a problem related to the federal use of the line-item veto.
The broad fiscal administration problem involved concerns efforts to restrain federal spending on what traditionally has been referred to as "pork barrel" projects, or those project that do not serve to promote broad national interests. Considering the state of the national debt of the United States, any problem that focuses on ways to reduce or eliminate unnecessary spending at the federal level may be justified.
