This paper theologically investigates the Christian interpretation of God's word on doing evangelism outside the walls of the church. It first discusses the nature of evangelism in Christianity. The paper then theoretically discusses whether training leaders and targeting a particular people group equates to a higher success rate in leading the targeted group to Christ.

"The holistic ministry makes an assumption of the "connection between spiritual transformation and socioeconomic empowerment." (Unruh and Sider, 2005) It must be understood however that the material needs of people being met does not ensure that they will be open for spiritual matters. The holistic church social ministry provides nurturing in various ways and through "integrated evangelistic strategies have built-in religious activities, either optional or mandatory such as incorporating prayer in to a counseling session, leading a Bible study as part of an after-school program, or holding a worship service before a meal." (Unruh and Sider, 2005) There are other approaches to evangelism as well such as the "two-step invitational strategy..." (Unruh and Sider, 2005)"
