From the Paper:
"The appointed leader is obviously produced through the managerial department of the educational institution appointing a person into a leadership role. This type of leader is often automatically appointed in they have maintained some type of expertise in a certain subject area at the school. The appointed leader then is considered as subject leadership. Unfortunately, the difficult role of managing may not be met by the appointed leader as it takes other qualities to be a good leader, and the subject leader may not fit into these specifications. The functional leader enters into management by the way of their actions. Often, functional leaders have proven their qualities as a leader, and therefore, they provide some of the best leadership. The charismatic leader is successful through their personality traits. These types of charismatic leaders are often thought to be natural leaders and school leaders who can exert their authority over other teachers through natural abilities to lead. Often, these charismatic leaders influence other people in many other spheres of their life."
