"David Belasco was a multi-talented figure in American theater at the turn of the century. As a child, he began his theatrical career as an actor. However, as an adult, Belasco became most widely known for his work as a producer, director, and playwright. David Belasco was always a great perfectionist in his work in these three areas. As noted by one writer, Belasco "spared himself nothing in his devotion to detail" (Moses 52). Because of his dedication to his craft and his attention to detail, Belasco was able to make great strides in the development of theatrical art.
