The change does not simply mean increased speed for computers, for there is more involved than speed and also fewer opportunities for users to achieve increased speed given that most programs remain 32-bit and that 64-bit is more useful for making greater use of memory than for speed. Analysts have compared the two systems and suggest that 64-bit architecture has limited use beyond graphics for games and the like, at least for the average user. The new architecture is much more valuable to users of supercomputers who conduct large-scale simulations."
