However, one might effectively argue ordering an individual to complete substance abuse treatment is a benefit of the sentence. This study is more interested in characteristics other than race. It is possible the present study may find a similar relationship to offenders ordered to complete substance abuse treatment as relationships observed in sentencing outcomes."
