"People who opt for piercings usually have some sort of jewelry, like studs, bars, or small hoops, placed in the pierced area. There are a variety of ornaments available for body piercings. The ornaments are bought from retail stores. It is recommended that they are smooth so that they can be cleaned easily. Ornaments may be made of precious metals, like gold or silver. They may also be silver plated or made of stainless steal. Because of the large number of people who suffer from allergies to nickel, ornaments with high contents of this metal should be avoided."
