1,088 words (approx. 4.4 pages) | 0 sources | 2007 United States

Paper Summary:

The paper identifies the literary devices employed by Robert Frost in his poem "Nothing Gold Can Stay". The paper relates that these devices illustrate how the beauty of nature and the creation of human life will always come to a close. The paper further discusses how Frost is telling the world that life can be beautiful but it can not be taken for granted because it does not last forever.

From the Paper:

"In Frost's poem "Nothing Gold Can Stay," a tone of change, literally in nature and symbolically in humanity, is created through his effective use of literary devices. Robert Frost is trying to illustrate how even the beauty of nature and the creation of human life will always come to a close. We see the devolution of innocence and the demise of nature through his work of art. Instead of focusing on the birth and resurrection of the earth's valuables Frost decided to speak of the death and the consistent changing of the earth as a whole. Nature is more precious than any diamond, ruby, or gold yet this natural beauty can never remain the same."
