"At first they danced all weekend, toasted each other in the morning with coffee, with champagne at night and always with kisses." This line explains how in the beginning of courtship everything is done to light a romantic flame and keep it alight. The champagne and kisses seem to represent a cliche version of romance and love that a marriage cannot solely be based on. "
