Force that has credibility and capacity acts as a persuasive deterrent (Art,9). In the same manner it aids in coercive diplomacy. Not only does force deter, it grants the power of compellance, the use of force to change the status quo. Force illustrates that the peaceful solution is the best solution. Although force does not guarantee victory, it greatly increases the chances of not needing a victory in the first place."
