The Need For Hybrid Vehicles

Paper Summary:

This paper contends that federal law should require that all new gasoline powered vehicles be hybrid models in order to protect the environment as well as reduce dependence on foreign countries for oil. The paper explains how hybrid vehicles reduce auto emissions and increase fuel efficiency and describes how the increased number of vehicles on the roads negatively affects the environment.

"As new reports come in concerning the devastating effects of global warming, it becomes imperative that citizens reduce the number of fossil fuels that are being burned. Gasoline powered automobiles are considered to be the largest contributor to the major pollutants that are being released into the atmosphere. In order to reduce auto emissions as well as increasing fuel efficiency, hybrid vehicles have been introduced into the automobile market. These hybrids use several sources of power to reduce the amount of fuel that is needed to run the automobile. Hybrids are environmentally friendly vehicles that will help reduce the devastating effects of global warming as well as allowing the United States to rely less on foreign countries for our oil supply. Federal law should require that all new gasoline powered vehicles be hybrid models by 2014 in order to protect the environment as well as reducing the country's dependence on foreign countries for oil."
