Teacher Technology Standards
A paper highlighting the need for teachers to be up-to-date with technology in the classroom.
1,253 words (approx. 5 pages) | 4 sources | APA | 2009 United States

Paper Summary:

The paper maintains that teachers should be mandated to take technology courses in order to provide for better and more efficient classroom teaching. The paper discusses the necessity for a teacher to be able to effectively maneuver around the array of computer programs available on any school computer, such as power point programs and using digital photography. The paper relates that the impediment to such learning devices is funding but asserts that by teachers being exposed to the fast growing world of technology, they can make schooling interactive, fun and accessible.

From the Paper:

"One of the most critical of these standards is the ability of the teacher to effectively maneuver around the array of computer programs available on any legitimate school computer. Without the ability to navigate and produce for the students their desired goal, then the teacher becomes obsolete as a aid in education. One example of instructional technology is power point programs which make presentations more cohesive and understandable for students. Without a teacher's knowledge of power point, students themselves would fail in comprehending how presentations can be more elaborate and beneficial to the audience. Power point maximizes, in a direct and informative fashion, exact points that the students need to focus their studies."
