This paper will suggest that a recent excerpt from a Stephen Harper parliamentary address raises several valid points that Canadians should first consider before they determine on which side they ultimately stand with regards to the same-sex issue. First and foremost, Canadians must consider what possible social benefits can accrue to them and to others if the traditional definition of marriage is over-turned; secondly, Canadians must consider the manner in which such a momentous decision is being arrived at. In the final analysis, there are sufficient grounds to give Canadians pause before they rush to support a bill that is being now rushed through the Canadian parliament."
