While this paper acknowledges the advantages of money, the focus of the paper is on the disadvantages it brings such as how it motivates greed, lying, cheating and stealing. The Enron scandal is used to to illustrate this point and the perils of the drug trade and how money can bring unneeded stress into a person's life are discussed as well. The paper asserts that money causes more problems than it is worth.
From the Paper:
"Money is the one thing that everyone in developed nations needs in order to survive. It has been said that all a human being needs to survive is food, water, and shelter, but in our society, those things are almost exclusively obtained through the process of buying them. Since money is so important, it is only natural that many people would desire to have as much of it as possible. The more money an individual has, the more he or she will be able to buy and, therefore, the more comfortable and desirable the person's lifestyle will become. With this pleasurable lifestyle comes thing like power, increased self-esteem, and appearing to be more attractive to people."
