Dormitories are usually diverse, multicultural, and co-ed, permitting a wide range of friendships to develop. Moreover, the large numbers of students living in the dormitory might prevent cliques from forming, as students will make friends with a wider variety of people than they would otherwise. Instead of focusing only on students who share the same schedule or classes, those who live in the college dormitories make friends with students with diverse academic interests and ethnic backgrounds."
