This paper discusses how leadership classes help participants gain better control and understanding of a group, class or event that they lead. "Leadership development classes have been used in a number of ways by a variety of organizations. Employers offer leadership training to employees seeking promotion, and many people choose to take leadership training to further develop their own abilities. Teachers can use leadership training to better lead a class. Leadership expert Warren Bennis states in his book On Becoming a Leader, "...leaders are people who are able to express themselves fully. By this I mean that they know who they are, what their strengths and weaknesses are, and how to fully deploy their strengths and compensate for their weaknesses" (Bennis 3). This is at the heart of good leadership and explains why leadership training can affect all areas of one's life. The object of most leadership training programs is to help the leader see that he or she leads a group of individuals, all with unique needs and modes of communication."
