↶ Look Inside

Paper Summary:

This paper discusses a combination of five articles on capital punishment. The articles reviewed look at the death penalty from a conservative perspective, from a historical perspective, and from a liberal perspective. The paper takes a strong stand in opposition to the death penalty.

From the Paper:

"The last article to be reviewed here looks at the death penalty from a left wing perspective which is particularly concerned with the racial aspect of capital punishment. Charles Whitaker explores the issue with one question. Why is it that so many poor black men are on death row? He then goes into a similar statistical analysis of death row innocence as that written by Carl Cannon. And like Cannon, Whitaker proposes an outright ban on capitol punishment. He believes the large amount of black men on death row is indicative of racism in the courtroom."
