Abortion

Paper Summary:

This paper argues against the wide-spread practice of abortion. It states that abortion, which was initially indicated as a life-saving procedure, is today misused to suit the whims and fancies of the people. The writer examines statistics surrounding abortion, looks at the psychological impact, and the abuse of abortion these days. The writer concludes that all forms of abortion should be banned except for purely medical conditions where the life of the woman is perceived to be in danger or under the unfortunate circumstance where the women is impregnated due to a sexual assault.

"Let us first take a moral perspective of abortion. The bible says, "Thou shalt not kill." What right does man have to take away the life of an innocent, yet unborn child? The fetus is a soul ordained by God and abortion is nothing but a medical procedure that ends the life of the unborn child. This is clearly brutal action against a defenseless weakling, which cannot even pray. Is it not a clear defiance of all our ethical and moral principles to destroy a child in the womb? It is really surprising that abortion does not create a huge outcry from the society. Why this uncaring attitude and why, the lack of emotional response to the brutal killing of the child. Any form of abortion, either it is non-surgical using the pill or surgical and late stage surgical abortion (partial birth abortion), cannot be justified under any grounds except under an emergency situation where there is a real danger to the mother."
