"Dr Thomas Pogge is one of these people and his ideas about global justice or global inequality, resources distribution, the power of the governments as well as that of the people are an inspiration for all those who believe in change and second chances. Pogge blames the G7 for the actual system. He argues that after the Cold War, G7 members adopted protectionists measures, subsidies that help more the nationals in the detriment of the poor as well as an entire economic system based on consumerism and public spending. We were thought to spend and consume in order to get the system going. But this is a system that can no longer work as Annie Leonard puts it in "The Story of Stuff",because 'this is a linear system' ,a system which is inadequate to today's society. She also argues that media today incite us to consume by making us unhappy about what we have, and by imposing certain products and practices as being better than others : "If you don't own or buy a lot of stuff, you don't have value".This is another one of the many factors that create or exacerbate social and cultural disparities."
