Communication skills are extremely important in today's interconnected society and economy. Not only are individuals the world over now able to communicate instantaneously with each other without much effort or expense but organizations now have the ability to create teams and workgroups that communicate seamlessly with each other across regions, time zones, and other barriers. These developments have elevated the importance of communication as a skill, a competency and a goal for individuals to achieve because it is now considered a necessity rather than a nice attribute."
