This paper relates that Alfred Hitchcock's "Rear Window" suggests that Hitchock often underestimates the woman in male-female relationships, which can lead to either a positive, equal relationship or disaster, depending on the man's ability to accept the woman's more highly developed role. "As both Jefferies and the audience discover at the end of the film, he has grossly underestimated Fremont. Despite eventual protests from Jefferies, who worries that she will get hurt, Lisa undertakes the very adventurous task of investigating Mr. Thorwald, whom they both suspect of murder, herself. She starts by slipping a note under his door so Jefferies can watch him react from his apartment. Then, she becomes even more adventurous by sneaking into Thorwald's apartment, even getting arrested in the process!"
