Paper Summary:
This paper discusses the 1994 film, "The Shawshank Redemption," which was written and directed by Frank Darabont. The paper describes the plot of the film and discusses some of the views of critics with regards to the film. The paper focuses on the characters of Red and Andy Dufresne and suggests that the film was the success that it was due to the performance of the actors playing these two characters.
From the Paper:
"One must keep in mind that there is a reason that these individuals get paid to give their opinions about movies. Whereas The Shawshank Redemption was a powerful and moving film, it is clear after reading these reviews that some aspects of the movie left an overly-sweet taste in many of the reviewers' mouths. However, the two lead actors get universal praise for their performances. Certainly, these are two actors who deserve praise and the chemistry they bring to the film makes it all the more enjoyable. One is left to wonder what the film would have been like if two other actors had been cast in these roles and, if that had happened, if we would still be talking about The Shawshank Redemption fourteen years later."
