Paper Summary:

The paper describes the film "The Patriot" that takes place during the Revolutionary War. The paper presents an outline of the events and main characters in this historical film. The paper explains that events that are not completely accurate could be because the Revolutionary War was only used as a backdrop to tell the story of the Martin family and the struggles they must confront. The paper lauds this film, specifically the acting of Mel Gibson, the lead character, as well as the directing and the actual plot. Several images from the movie are included with the paper.

From the Paper:

"The Patriot, which was released in 2000, is a film that takes place during the Revolutionary War. It is a story about a widowed father of seven, named Benjamin Martin (Mel Gibson). Benjamin was involved in the French and Indian War before marrying and starting a family. He is haunted by the images of his past and the events that took place at Fort Wilderness."
"After his wife passed away he does everything in his power to keep his family together and away from war but he fears that his past will catch-up with him sooner or later. When an assembly, the South Carolina Assembly, is formed to discuss a rebellion against the British, Benjamin protests by stating, "Why should I trade on tyrant three thousand miles away for three thousand tyrants one mile away?" This is when he and his family will not aid in the rebellion."
