Paper Summary:

"Scarface" is a movie about a major drug dealer, Tony Montana, during the early 1980s. In the movie, many economic topics are addressed, especially ones dealing with demand, competition, black markets, colluding and cartels. This paper takes at look at how the issue of prohibition and other economic subjects are presented through this 1983 movie.

From the Paper:

"Throughout the movie, the demand for cocaine never ceases, and actually increases. The demand curve for cocaine is able to shift to the right due to a couple of reasons, such as the changes in the number of consumers and changes in tastes, styles and preferences of consumers. The movie takes place in 1980, which is the peak of the disco era, which was a time of extremely high cocaine intake."
