Paper Summary:
This paper analyzes the film, "Friday Night Lights", from a genre criticism perspective and goes on to discuss the plot, story, theme and characters of the film. The paper concludes that, in order to create a great football movie you need three main themes; a great team, a known coach, and a dramatic ending. According to the paper, "Friday Night Lights" provided all three of these themes plus a whole list of others.
From the Paper:
"The well known coach in the movie can be well known for many reasons. He can either be the great hero, the great villain, or a hidden mixture of both in one. Coach Gaines in Friday Night Lights is a coach that I would refer to as a great hero, he takes his team that just lost their star running back and losing two games back to back, to a ending season that is one to remember, showing the true meaning to perseverance and prevailing over life's issues. Throughout this season he helps to push not only the football team to make a change to adapt but he also has to cope with a racist upper class society that has yet to change their mindset on equality of the individual."
