Yahoo!'s Political and Ethical Problems

This document discusses Yahoo!'s current political and ethical problems engendered by its China operations. Yahoo! and many other leading technology companies have recently received a great deal of negative press for facilitating China's governmental censorship of the Internet and the World Wide Web. Yahoo! in particular has been singled out for its active participation by turning over private customer data to the Chinese government that resulted in a 10 year prison sentence of a Chinese journalist.

Yahoo! maintains operations throughout the North American Continent, Europe, the Asia Pacific Rim, particularly China, and Latin America and is headquartered in California, USA with over 7,600 worldwide employees (Yahoo!, 2005)."
