↶ Look Inside

Paper Summary:

Officially established in 1995, the World Trade Organization was created as a new framework for nations to use in their global negations and commercial interactions. This paper examines how the World Trade Organization operates and discusses its move into a more globalized 21st century.

From the Paper:

"One of the most important changes made in the framework for nations between the GATT treaty and the establishment of the WTO is the establishment of the trade rules regarding trade in intellectual property and services as well as products. As arbiter of these guidelines, the Dispute Settlement Body (DSB) is the governing body of the WTO. It is the group to which member nations turn when there is a dispute between them. The DSB analyzes the trade policies and interprets the rules regarding them."
