The replacement of Keynesian economic structures with the neoliberal ideology and policy initiatives in the last decades of the 20th century has led - in the opinion of many feminists - to a modern "new gender order" within which the increasing privatization of social reproduction has increasingly marginalized women by limiting their roles in the paid workforce with the social and economic autonomy that these roles signify. This essay argues that an understanding of these processes is critical to any effort at challenging the neoliberal convergence of social reproduction in economic, social and political aspects.From the Paper:
