Much as the townhouse now offers affordable, space-efficient housing, the bungalow also espoused these values in the form of a detached dwelling. These houses were simple and inexpensive to build, unpretentious, and built for comfort and efficiency - in short, they were just what was needed to accommodate the proliferation of young families and immigrants in the era following the Second World War."
