" This purpose of this research is to discuss how the United States can ensure the security of Saudi Arabia. This proposal will take into consideration the technical, economic, and political stresses that influence U.S. policy in this matter.

Shortly after the Gulf War, Saudi Arabia developed a new security policy that it was likely to follow in the future ("Saudi Arabia's Security," 1991, n.p.). It was clearly shown during the Gulf War that Saudi Arabia was more of a financial magnate than a regional military power. Accordingly, after the war, the Kingdom's main political focus was centered around three latent sources of threats: the Arab-Israeli conflict, the instability in its external strategic environment--as reflected in the Gulf conflict, and the criticism leveled at the particularity of its American connection, which the Saudis.."
